The Catholic Archbishop of the Lagos metropolitan See, His Grace, Rt. Rev. Dr. Alfred Adewale Martins has commissioned a community road built by SS Peter & Paul Catholic Parish Oke Afa, Ejigbo, Lagos.
The event which took place on February 21, 2017 was attended by the Ejigbo Council Administrator, the legislator representing Oshodi/Isolo constituency 2, Hon. Sir Jude Idimogu, Oblate priests, Adorers and the Catholic parish community.
The Archbishop congratulated Fr. Leo Ukwuani and his team for taking such laudable initiative and prayed that the good Lord will continue to bless the donors. Before then, the road leading to the church was nearly impassable making it also difficult for people to have access to the church. The community members expressed their gratitude to Fr. Leo and members of the Adorer family for providing for the community what the government could not do for them. They promised to continue to support the Catholic Church.
The parish community of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Oke Afa, Ejigbo, Lagos celebrated their parish priest and spiritual director, Rev. Fr. Leo Ukwuani, OSJ. The event which took place at the parish compound, Oke Afa, Ejigbo, Lagos started with a high mass officiated by the Oblate of St. Joseph priests and their friends led by Rev. Dr. Ethelbert Aruah, OSJ, the Superior of the Nigeria Delegation.
The people were later entertained with music, food and dance. The guests used the opportunity to eulogize the celebrant Fr. Leo on his numerous achievements within a decade as a priest. Among these are the installations of a standard public address system for use during liturgical activities in the church, erection of a global standard multi-purpose hall and building of a community road that leads to the church.
During his tenure, the Catholic Men Organization won the maiden edition of the Archbishop’s football trophy. The Parish Laity Council was adjudged the best in the Deanery while the Block Rosary Crusade won the Archdiocesan quiz competition and came 3rd at the national level. Fr. Leo, in his reaction promised to continue to avail himself to the tenets of the priestly vocation and to serve the people of God.
